Surgeons, order your cornea tissue online! Complete the following form and we will endeavor to meet your surgical needs. Most requests for cornea tissue are met on the initial requested surgical date. We endeavor to provide corneas with an overall rating of good-very good-excellent only, and an endothelial cell count of greater than 2500.

We are members of the Eye Bank Association of America and all tissue recovered from eye banks accredited by the Eye Bank Association of America.

PKP Cornea graft

Cornea tissue for PKP is generally from donors 10-75 with an endothelial cell count grater than 2500. We offer tissue that is less than 7 day from date of death and less than 16 hours from death to preservation. Many tissue are more in the range of 5 days old and under 10 hours D-P.

DSAEK tissue

1) Donors are between age 50-75 years old

2) Cut is 90-150 microns thick, according to your specification

3) There is an “S” stamp on the stromal side, if you desire

4) Cell count is dependent on the tissue you accept prior to the cut

5) Tissue can be prepared up to 48 hours prior to surgery.

DMEK tissue

1) Donors are between age 50-75 years old

2) Cut is 10-15 microns thick

3) There is an “S” stamp on the stromal side

4) cell count is dependent on the tissue you accept prior to the cut

5) It is cut using the hinge method, meaning that one side is still attached to the rest of the cornea and you need to detach it prior to using the tissue. The attached side is marked for identification.

6) Tissue can be prepared up to 96 hours prior to surgery.

Full-Fee Reimbursement under Medicare Advantage
Medicare makes separate payments for the acquisition of corneal tissue for use in corneal transplant and glaucoma shunt procedures. However, there has been some confusion about this policy, which has led to instances in which the tissue was billed incorrectly, and thus not reimbursed by Medicare.
